Ipod Touch 64 Gb: the only note worthy New Feature

Not sure why Amazon says I'm reviewing the 32GB iPod touch. Definitely I have the 64 GB iPod touch (and a strong charge $ 400 credit card to go along with it)

This is an interesting purchase. After owning basically (from my family and I), damn near all versions of iPod ever made "(Gn 1, 2, mini, video, nano, touch 1 gen, classic) I was back in the market in mid August, when my 1st half-year-old little iPod classic dust. The usual … everything is happy-go-lucky and one day the iPod shows no backlight and a sad face icon, who never played again.

Well, after touch my iPod gave up the ghost, which thoroughly examined the full crop of competition. I will say I was impressed with the Zune HD pre-release specs, especially the high-definition video capability. At that time, Archos had not yet released much information about the new tablet 5 coming soon, so did not want to risk waiting on that. Creative also has a new player, the X-Fi2, but as the HD, maxes out at 32GB.

Knowing Apple had planned a great event for September 9 and the reports of the media to invite reference to music, I anticipated the new iPods were on the road and waited impatience to see how Apple would respond to increased competition stiffer. When they arrived September 9, shoot all the live blogs, peep, and the report Apple's event.

I waited and waited and waited some more, but apart from the announcements of price reductions (in response to Zune) and iPod touch 64GB, which was quite anti-climax. Honestly, this was purchased at least to my impatience for the iPod at a time. Therefore, the lack of real news only innovative Apple I made my choice more difficult. After thinking about it for a while, I finally decided on the 64GB iPod touch because I wanted the largest flash-based player I could find. (I'll admit the premature demise of my iPod Classic had a lot to do with my decision to insist on flash memory). In the end, the simple ability won.

At first glance, it seems like the press 2 gene. Form factor, user interface, everything looks like the gene press 2. They contain twice as much memory on your player the same size as the touch of 32GB model. The headphones are basically the only thing different in appearance from Gen 2 and contain built-in microphone for the new addition voice. The only downside is that voice control would have been better if it provides an outlet for you to use your own headphones.

If you use the feature, (Or any other applications that use the microphone), you are stuck with Apple's buds until the 3rd party accessory makers to catch up. I do not plan to use because seems more of a gadget than anything else.

The body is amazingly thin, especially to give a touch 64GB iPod. same size as the 32GB iPod touch unless is crammed double flash storage on the narrow quarters. With that amount of storage crammed into a space so tight, I'm interested to see if the heat becomes increasingly one factor.

By now, everyone has seen the ads, drooled over an iPod Touch friend or visit a store to play with an iPod Touch, so I'll spare the details of the most boring as mail, notes, memos, calendar, etc, and cut to the Nitty Gritty:

Display: Simply gorgeous as always. Rich lush colors to see photos, videos, web browsing and everything else the iPod Touch offers. Much bigger and sharper than the Classic. Intense, bright and clearly one of the best offered. You can see horizontal or vertical. The screen rotates automatically to you when you rotate the iPod.

Wi-Fi: Great performance. Setup is simple and compatible with most security protocols Wi-Fi. Someone said it best, the Safari browser is fast and responsive. NO is like a web browsing on a cell phone. Everyone promised that 3G, Edge that super fast, but navigating the cell phone is like watching dry paint. This does not happen with the iPod, because it uses its fast Wi-Fi, no cellular service pokey. The large screen also makes for a browsing experience more practical. The controls of the fingers are as exceptional as they ever were. The iPod Touch also has maps and location service, but it is the best rudimentary. It is not true GPS satellite or cellular triangulation (always wanted to say that) mapping. Establishing similar position to the cell tower triangulation; however, use public Wi-Fi available in place of cell towers. If you live in a modern city with cable and fresh. On the negative side, if you ever get lost in the desert with this thing … well … just glad he has a lot of music and applications .. have to ..

Bluetooth: Wonderful for wireless headphones. That is the best benefit. No clunky dongle attached. Some people are upset that you can not connect to a PC or cell phone with her .. Frankly, if you work with headphones wireless speakers and other iPods, I'm happy and do not consider limited.

Capacity: Yes! Finally, after years of waiting, a touch 64GB iPod. Seriously, the 32GB iPod touch is not even remotely close to the needs of a power user. I have over 500 CD's of over 20 years of collecting, all ripped MP3. This adds to the store to buy MP3, movies and pictures. I like to keep on board some movies and photos you never know when it might be useful. 64GB iPod Touch is still a little low, but at least you can fit most of my media on it. When they go from 80 GB or more, will have to find the sweet spot. I realize the flash memory is not cheap, so I have curiosity to see the price level as the capacity will increase even higher.

Quality Sound: While Apple is not the best MP3 player sound, are also far from the worst. Frankly, the first thing I normally do when I buy a new player is chuck the headphones. Microphone and remote control aside, this is no exception. I'd rather have a pair of headphones fed delivery of wealthy real loyalty yolks uncomfortable sitting in-your-ear cavities ready to burst-out-in-the least – once traditionally supplied with the iPod. Still, Apple provides improvements more or less the same sound who have always y. I keep things flat because the EQ remains dependent on the distortion to adjust the sound. It's best to just listen to it without all the distorted "improvements."

The touch screen seems just as quick, sensitive, and always has been. As for the new and improved processor, I see a world of difference in speed between this and previous generation touches. I am sure that performance is higher, I just do not see a truly remarkable level. There's still much faster than browsing with the click-wheel on the Classic hard drive.

As applications, I know this may annoy some people, but I have no intention to use applications. I just do not buy my personal media players for it. I'm sure you're a great time passers for flights and such, but honestly, was wanted for at least my choice. Just a personal preference.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I would still like a higher capacity and more audio / video Apple Support (Where is the support for WMV, WMA, FLAC, Ogg?? Even the Zune will play AAC). In addition, a radio is so long it's ridiculous. But I think the hope of these features keep me glued to the blogs and tweets again when Apple has their next big event next year's iPod.

One thing is certain, increasingly stiff competition from the excellent contenders as the new Archos 5 (simply awesome) and the Zune HD Apple is expected to keep their A-game that can never be a bad thing.
