Great laptop for browsing, email and productivity applications
I have had this netbook for about a week and now we have been using different degrees everyday. I bought it for use as a secondary low-cost machine for home and travel. I have been very surprised with how well it works for surfing the Internet, check email and perform normal office tasks (eg creating documents in Word). I've also been pleasantly surprised with its ability to support video playback. I was not expecting the video support that at all. I have not had the model that supports high-definition video because he was not offered on Amazon.
Unlike some other netbook keyboards I've tried in stores, this keyboard team is fantastic, with a very good response. The size is almost that of a full-size keyboard laptop. Even with large hands and a preference for the butterfly keyboards, I find that he can write very well.
The screen is crisp and clear. Color seems to be good for the occasional user. However, the viewing angle is limited. I guess it's to be expected in this price range. The screen should be right in front of you and perpendicular to your line of sight for best viewing. I used to use a 24-inch Dell UltraSharp my desktop and my laptop is a Dell Latitude D830 – both have a better viewing angle.
Touch Screen works fine, but make the integration of the pad buttons and more cumbersome than a traditional pad with dedicated buttons. I found most annoying when trying to grab something and drag. The buttons can also be difficult to push.
Battery life has been more or less like advertising. I have about 6-7 hours per charge.
As mentioned earlier, I have been impressed with the machine's ability to support video playback. What seems to handle standard definition Flash videos (YouTube) Windows media video and vids Silverlight (Netflix streaming movies) without problems. I took the machine to appointment with my doctor son recently. They have wifi and I was able to transmit both video and [...] [...] no problem at all.
You struggle with HD content, as found on YouTube and 640×480 AVIs your typical point and shoot camera records. I have some 320×240 AVI that play well.
I uninstalled and installed MS Works a copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student. The office applications works very well to my surprise.
I experienced two problems with the machine performance. One was temporary and occurred when first starting the machine. Dell had installed several programs run at first boot. This slowed down the machine while that completed. The second occurs when the HD video playback, as found on YouTube. The video and audio are very busy during playback video HD. Apart from that, the machine works very well.
The Windows Experience Index is 2.3 for this machine with the processor to the 2.3 score. Video is 3.0 and 3.1 respectively for graphics and game graphics. The memory is 4.6 and the disc is 5.9.
My biggest disappointment with the machine is still glossy surfaces show fingerprints and dust very easily.

I purchased this netbook after months of shopping, I have a laptop 17 "Dell, but it was only much to contribute everywhere, and now that summer is here I like having my bike to work, so the 17" yet more daunting.
7990BK I chose the black to match my Studio 1737, I have had Dell computers for years and never had a problem so I felt this netbook would be a sure bet.
When you open the box of this team is really awesome, its very small, and indeed very well designed. I removed the computer from its packaging and got right to work, eliminating the Dell installed software and accessories. I have to say this is pretty fast for a 1.66GHz processor.
I install a new copy of Office 2007, and connected my external hard drive to copy files over my work. Overall I'm very impressed with this machine, and it took hard to get a knot in my throat, but never stopped, I put it through some hard evidence and did not disappoint last night. With iTunes, many established programs excel, 2 documents Word, a desk full of gadgets, websites, and the movie playing on the media player was still able to play a few games of solitaire. This showed me that I bought a very capable team!
I think Ill be upgrading to Windows 7 Pro, however, as the owner seems a bit lacking in features. I also believe that with another 1GB of RAM this computer will be a small power station … especially with what they need.
I should mention the point of sale keyboard being almost the same size, is reason enough to get this netbook! I have a very large hands and most of the mini I have tried were an inconvenience to say the less. But Dell did well with the keyboard on the Mini Inspiron, its literally like typing on screen keyboard … and that's a good thing when you use your computer all day!
Also the battery life is quite impressive. To put this in perspective, I totally get it charged after that it delivered … Unplugged at 6pm, took it home and ran all night, at 1:30 am was still, and when I took to work was at 10% … this was a 7 am. I left the screen at maximum brightness and adjusted it for maximum performance, closing the screen after 20 minutes … I must say that the duration battery is first class!
To end it, Id say Dell hit out of the park with there mini-series Inspiron line the disease will continue to exercise this netbook to work, but with the addition of RAM, I think that will be achieved without problems. If you're in the market for mini … look no further.

Little power
I love acting, which is packed into this little computer. I wish to Windows-based desktops to allow custom but I guess it helps performance. I love its small size and featherweight. You can easily carry in your pocket or jacket pocket large. We have had for over a month and we have not found any problems so far. It is also surprising that there was very little bloatware installed. My Dell Laptop is another four years and works as good as when new. I hope it lasts so long.

A netbook-friendly surf net habitual café.
I was looking for a new netbook (owned by an ESA 701) and thought I would go with the Dell at this time.
Dell, I found the most attractive package in early 2010 by the follwoing reasons:
1. comes with the new Atom 450 (should be a little more to energy efficiency)
2. 6-cell battery gives me more time outside the 3-cell batteries in many netbooks others.
3. the keyboard is a pleasure to write quickly.
4. The case is not only beautiful but durable. No notable of all kinds bending under pressure.
5. the screen is nice, vibrant colors.
6. touchpad is a nice and usable size.
I have been using the Mini now for a couple of days and I'm not disappointed. I use to navigate the network of light, emails, and writing (basic applications of a classic netbook). In addition, the use for streaming music under my Zune subscription.
My expectations are met. Windows Starter just seems a bit of a bottleneck in terms of including (or lack) features compared with Home or Professional. I could not understand how does the Mini through a mapped network drive and in its present form, must be a missing feature (or blocked) because Windows 7 Starter Edition. Update seems the best option if you really want using the Mini to share and give at home.
