I had looked for a while to a portable desktop after my death and Toshiba L505 series was one of my finalists. I was disappointed and price ($ 499) for specifications (4g ram/500g HD) that the machine has been a great idea.
One plus with this machine is that it comes with very little "bloatware" – Norton trial, Microsoft Office 2007 trial, and some games. Therefore, if you buy this machine in a "box store" do not let that fool you for that the optimization of an extra $ 50 – $ 100, you can make recovery discs and removing bloatware on their own.
The only downside is that I really wish I had an HDMI output for sending my flat-screen movies from places like Amazon, but the VGA or USB output will have to suffice.
N HDMI is my only reason we do not score 5 stars, other machines in this range offer and we hope that soon Toshiba.
