Do not believe the bad reviews on this device. Choose one and can not be satisfied with it. I have a device for quad-core PC with 3 GB of RAM running Windows7. Hauppauge works well with my PC. Software I have a Dolby Digital 5.1 and high-definition video in 1080i 1920×1080/30fps/13mbps (max scan available on the device), and data sets without any problems. I bought this unit could get rid of First and foremost, the TiVo HD programs and store permanently on your hard disk. Disappointing
I have heard many good things about this device and I bought it to record matches MW2 with PS3. Whenever I have nuclear weapons, so I wanted to show the first day ellos.Al make wine, I was very excited, but was quility terrible.The was black and very fuzzy. I have a few nuclear bombs and could not record. Amazon have always been good but this is discraseful.I paid a lot. Be careful with the devices orders from other countries. VERY BAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The recordings look great, but the software is difficult to use
I bought this machine to download high-definition programs off my DVR DTVpal. I have a fairly simple to configure and nothing fancy with audio at all. I use a computer HP laptop, 6930 to record the program. I play the DVR program and while the program plays, I can write to the computer via Hauppauge. I could not figure out if he had enough video memory, but I think the speed of my 7200 rpm hard drive. I was worried it would be glitchy, but it seems to work well. The Editting For the program on a regular DVD is the incredibly difficult and time consuming (at least it was for me). There is a cutting room, where you can cut things like ads, but you have to lose a few fractions of seconds to cut. This is painful because at the moment there are a lot of zoom in and zoom out. Creating chapters also is difficult because the time codes of the chapters do not seem to match the time code cutting room. I have not looked into other software for editing. Neither have realized if there is a way to reduce the resolution (and disk space) after the recording (on laptop) to a high bit rate (which presumably Higher resolution means). I ran into problems in which the program was too long to fit on a normal DVD and I had to split the program into two DVDs.

I needed to start making my videos online in high definition. My camera is a Sony Handycam HD, so it was established From that point, but I still need a recording device of my video game footage. I did not want to use a PCI card because my team record is a bit old and that also absorb a lot of my CPU clock cycles (plus they are too expensive for me). So that's what landed me in the Hauppauge HD-PVR.
The main aims PVR, like most PVR and DVR, to act as a pass-through device for recording and high definition television. I do not watch TV long, so I can not review this issue for that purpose. I am using to record scenes of current-generation game consoles, and to this end, is a very good, and I'm happy with my purchase.
The Hauppauge HD-PVR does not have any hard drive or storage of data retention elements. Its purpose is to take one component video and audio signal, convert it to a video file in high definition motion (maximum resolution is 1080i) and stored on your computer via USB 2.0 cable. The PVR comes with the ArcSoft software to preview video on the computer screen and from there click on a button to start and stop recording in a computer file.
This is what you really need to know before buying:
1. You can only save format AVCHD. It is a remarkably compact compression format, but also difficult to decipher. Not all media players are compatible. Fortunately, ArcSoft including in the software package a player who will accept them.
2. It is unclear what extent of file you are saving without any investigation. Your options are PLAYSTATION 3, AVCHD, and XBOX 360 (respectively the extensions are. M2TS,. TS, and MP4.). I thought it was pretty unprofessional to name the presets of this kind, but I understand this is to try to be user friendly and say what gaming console will play the.
3. The files are automatically named with a timestamp. Each piece of recording software I've ever used would leave the file name, either before or after recording. With this PVR, if you want to go easily you file, you have to change your name on a Windows file view. Probably not a big deal, but can easily have 50 files per project. Name Change is tedious.
4. The recordings are of low bit rate high definition. The bit rate range is from 6 to 13.5 Mbit Mbit. So while it files a high-definition resolution, the files are not as clear as HDV. mpeg, which I think is about 25 Mbit.
5. The recorder automatically selects resolution to record. You can not go up or down the scale. So, sorry, the Wii will only record at 720×480. While some might find this tool helpful.
ArcSoft software suite comes with a recorder, player, converter, fine editing and DVD packages. I really only use the first two but I hear people enthusiastic about creating a DVD because you can create a Blu-ray high definition DVD-R regular.
Anyway, I can use Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 to edit my videos, and thank God accepts AVCHD files. But if you are editing these files, you need a fast computer. Quad Core of preference.
