Wow! Westinghouse's latest technology? And a great value, too!
After investigating the purchase of two LCD TV for my kids, I was shopping around and found this Westinghouse. I actually did not think it would be a television serious, because it was less money than comparable LCD TV sitting on both sides of the same on the platform tents. All were on, and set in the same channel. So the comparisons are easy! I was prepared to hate the Westinghouse, thinking it was in the same class as some of the "no fixed brand name" .. garbage! After all, was less than $ 400.00!
But they were preparing to collect Phillips TV boxes and put them in the car to take home, began to read the box was thatthe Westinghouse in. Do my eyes deceive me? LED really tell him! No way. We walked over the edge of the high and costly LCD televisions. and 32 "LED which he said were $ 700.00 more! Samsung, Vizio, Panasonic etc.
First of all, an explanation of the "electronically challenged among us .. like me! A regular LCD TV uses fluorescent edge lighting to shine through the LCD to take the picture to view. Good enough!
Then there is a newer technology LCD TV with LED edge lighting … LED all the way around the screen to shine through and illuminate the TV screen. Save LED energy because they use a small fraction of the energy as fluorescent lights. Better, but black and dark colors are not as "black", and colors a bit faded.
BUT … Westinghouse LED backlit LCD blacks are black! More vivid colors, bright, vibrant colors (wait till you see the yellow!). And less energy, almost the same as a 40-watt bulb. And television is thin .. I mean Slim!
