What is the difference between diffusion and dissolution?
I know the definition of particle diffusion is a region moving high concentration to a lower concentration region (according to my teacher). And when the dissolution of smaller particles move to occupy the space between the larger particles. Does this mean that the dissolution occurs after flooding? But my aunt told me that the dissolution diffusion occurs earlier. You have the right idea about the spread, but their definition of the solution is not correct. Dissolution is when particles (eg sugar particles) are placed in water and are surrounded by water particles. Think about what happens when you put sugar in the water, first it is a solid crystal, but if you put one tablespoon sugar in warm water seems to disappear. Actually its dissolution, ie particles water particles are attracted to sugar and surrounding each individual, breaking the glass (particles that are made of sugar many). That is what is dissolving. Once the sugar crystals are divided into individual particles, individual particles can diffuse through the water until there is a quantity sugar particles equally throughout the whole glass of water. Diffusion can not occur if sugar does not dissolve first. Think of putting a piece of plastic water, plastic does not dissolve in water, so you can imagine that particle diffusion?
