Explaining HDTV picture quality

The most important statistic to consider when evaluating the quality of HDTV image is its resolution. It is important to note that any HDTV be a significant upgrade of the standard TV, but when choosing a screen for home theater system, pay attention to the resolution before other indicators of image quality. The first segment of the resolution, the number defines the number of vertical lines of resolution. Typically, these numbers are 480, 540, 720, or 1080. The increase in average size better image resolution: 1080 pixel TVs have 2 million, almost 5 times the resolution of standard TVs. After "the number i" or "p" refers to how the image is constructed from digital bits bytes on TV: "i" means interlaced and "p" for progressive scan – p generates a better image quality, especially when programs observation busy, like football. 3D TV is entering the market now, with the crystals required, and is integrated into the LCD technology and existing TV.

After choosing the resolution of your home theater system, and after making the choice between LCD and plasma, and then TV LCD TV LCD / DVD Blu-Ray DVD, the standard format of high definition, contrast ratio is the most important aspect of image quality. TV manufacturers use different standards to measure the contrast ratio, which makes the comparison of different brands televisions difficult. LCD vs plasma TVs suffer due to liquid crystals in LCD TVs are backlit, creating always a bit of light and infinite contrast making it impossible (infinite contrast is achieved by plasma and standard CRT TV), but compensates for this LCD TV with its high brightness. The two measures are "dynamic" and "static" contrast ratios, contrast Static relationships are usually better indicators of performance.

Black and white are the levels of another aspect of image quality and LCD televisions tend to have high levels of white and poor black levels on plasma TVs. These levels can be adjusted, but if set too will shorten the life of a television and even the new 3D TVs are not immune to this problem.

Then, color temperature, saturation and accuracy are important aspects display quality. The standard color is equivalent to daylight, "and the" natural "color temperature is 6500K. Viewing angles are another reason of concern, especially with LCD TVs because the image quality decreases dramatically as the viewer to more oblique angles. However, if your home theater system is oriented directly in front of LCD TV should be no problem in this regard. If your LCD TV has image artefacts such as combing, lines, irregular borders, blurred vision, or some other type of digital noise, this is a problem with television and should be returned to the manufacturer for repair.
