PC HDMI to TV … I can not get audio with the HDMI cable only?
I read that they carry audio so I would not have bought an audio cable. Thus, trying to play a video thats on my laptop through my TV, no sound (only from my laptop). Wonder if there I'm missing something, or if I was wrong and I actually need an audio cable. Insignia 720p TV. lap top is a Gateway FX and the HDMI cable is "Cables Unlimited V1.3"
Not all laptops allow transmitting audio via its HDMI port and HDMI port is usually the building in the graphics card. Said that, if allowed in your laptop, the option will be in the sound settings. Go to control panel, select sound and change the playback device to the HDMI output. If an HDMI output is present, then your laptop is compatible and should be good to go. If no digital output is present, then your laptop is probably not compatible.
