DVD upconverters not work just to watch DVD movies or going to improve reception of cable?
My present set up is running the components of the cable box to my HDTV. My cable is run through a DVD upconverter and HDMI to the TV to improve my reception at no HD programming?
To conversion requires a digital signal. If you have a digital (not HD), a source of cable and DVD player has a digital, this could work. … However I was not aware that many (non-recording) DVD player had tickets. The upconverter in the DVD player can not be "on" with the digital gateway. upconverter can be made to work only with the parameters of a DVD. So, unless your DVD player has digital input and says he will do this, is doubtful. And, of course, many HD cable boxes do not have digital outputs. And if yours does, then you might as well connect directly to the TV.
