Question about Harley Davidson Sportster?
Hello. I have a 2000 883 Sportster model. I changed the oil and filter on it last time. I opened the cap drainage and drainage all the oil that came out. He then changed the filter and let drain well. But when I wanted fil oil, I noticed that the oil tank was almost full. I took the drain plug back and shook and shook the bike, hoping to get all the oil out. I even took the wires spark plug and turned off the engine for a couple of times. But there was a lot of oil in the tank. Is this normal? If not, how do I drain all the oil out? I know there are some real experts in high definition Y! A, your help would be appreciated.
I have two sportsters. Most likely drained the primary, not the oil bourse. So what have to do is: 1. Remove the inspection cover on the primary (left) of the bike – should be two screws allen. Drain the primary removing the cap on the merits. I am sure this is what drained. Make sure the bike is up. If oil does not leave or after its drainage in fact, replace the plug and pour 1 liter of formula in the inspection of the deck and not lowering in these replace.Do Allen, who need not be super hard. 2. Drain the engine oil by pulling the plug in the hose. (behind the case, just below the battery) that can be a pain to watch at times. Just there. Drain the engine oil hose then put the plug back in 3. go to filter out and replace. Open the bag and fill with oil 3 quarts your favorite oil. I recommend you buy the factory manual. Do not run the bike until no liquid in the primary / transmission (sharing the oil). Go to www.xlforum.net and join the message board. DIESEL'm on that board. There are a lot of experience with the bike there. If you are sure, a question there. If you not have the skills is more likely that a member in your area who is willing to help. Sportster motorcycles are great but are expensive to rebuild, if burning the tranny or engine.
