Have any extra money to "Sling" around?

A new product that went up for sale today is the slingcatcher from sling media. This product sells for $300 and connects to any tv. The concept behind this pseudo set-top box is to "catch" media from sources connected to your wireless network and throw them up on the big screen tv. The claim is that anything that you watch on your computer, from web videos on blip or youtube, to streaming movies from netflix can be "caught" and viewed on the slingcatcher. Also, there is the ability to watch programming from a slingbox in the same house (at high quality) or from a different location (at lower quality). Oh, yes, and you can plug in a usb flash drive to watch video files as well. The slingcatcher is a decent product in theory, and it is cheaper than dedicating a pc to the job, however I question the real-life applicability of its features. If you have a slingbox connected within your network, the slingcatcher would be a good way of extending the same programming to a second tv in another room. My biggest concern with a product like this is the practicality of using it over the internet. Now, I know these things won't be selling like hotcakes, and consequently plugging up the general internet bandwidth. But say, for example I hook one up at my in-laws house, and connect it over the internet to the content I receive from my cable provider. Sounds interesting, however I am skeptical about the viability of streaming full-screen video over the internet. And in a day and age where 1080p rules, a low resolution, low bitrate streamed video isn't going to cut it. Now, once we all have fiber lines running to our homes come back and see me, I'll probably have a different feeling about this. Maybe sling and Vudu should get together and get this thing working with HDX, I'm all for that merger. Who knows, maybe the slingcatcher is right for you, let me know if you are planning on picking one of these up.
